The guy in the accompanying photograph has a facial expression that I think must be close to mine, at the moment. I'm tired. I could easily fall asleep, right here at my desk. Burning that proverbial candle at both ends will do that to us. Thank goodness it's almost time to go home.

Do you care? I'm sure you don't. I just wanted an excuse to post the photograph of a sculpture that I took at the Getty Museum, while on vacation in California last year. It is a very powerful work of art. I don't know who the man portrayed might be, or whether he is supposed to be alive or dead, but I was impressed by the incredible detail and by his facial expression. What does it all mean? Whatever it is, I am sure I have felt that way once or twice in my life.

I had lunch with a friend today, and we spent the time talking about life, and how we all deal with the inevitable ups and downs. We all have times of happiness, sadness, anger and frustration. Those are all things we can deal with. The danger is when we have bad times and allow ourselves to sink into despair. Perhaps like that poor fellow in the sculpture.

Thankfully, I have never been at that emotional state, and wouldn't want to visit, even for a moment.

  1. The first thing I thought of was that it looked like God, thinking, "not again.."

  2. Yep, I can see that too. Good one!
