Buried

Yes, I'm still here. I just have more than the usual work to do. That's me under that pile of stuff over there? No, the other pile. Yes, that's it. That's my foot you see sticking out from under the pile, the rest of me will stay buried for a couple more days. No, that head you see isn't mine. That guy is younger, better looking, and has more hair.

My son had a Superman outfit for Halloween one year, when he was about four or five years old. If I knew where it was, I would try to see if it might fit me. Maybe it's made of stretch Lycra or something. Perhaps it might bestow superhuman powers on me, and I could work at a pace guaranteed to help me catch up a bit.

Alas, that would be highly unrealistic to expect, wouldn't it? It might be worth a try, though. Desperate times, desperate measures, right?

It's all good here. Just lots to do and catch up on. Many things coming together or requiring attention all at once, so I have to jump in and contribute my bit. My two cents. I wonder what those two cents will be worth in twenty or thirty years, what with inflation and all?

I don't know. I don't care. I'm back to work. I'll write something more interesting in a day or two. I hope.

I'm still reading posts by my blog-buddies, I just don't have much time for commenting.

  1. Ahh, you look like me. Now you know a taste of returning to your desk after an eight week stint with a sub. Remember my 1-800-GOT-JUNK? post? It's time for us to call them again.

(My son had a Batman costume much like your son's Superman. He really thought he was part of the Dynamic Duo.)

  2. Well, even though you aren't commenting, we're still all reading.

That's how it's supposed to work, right? :)

    Peace,

  3. I can imagine how much effort it will take to catch up with everything, Bellezza. I don't envy you.

It's interesting how the kids latch on to the whole superhero thing isn't it? My favourite has always been Superman. I wonder why? Is it the tights? No way! How about the x-ray vision? Hmmm, that might be it. I think it is mostly that he had so many powers, so that when one might be inadequate to the task, he could simply use another.

Chani: I read your fascinating post on capital punishment, etc., and if I can find the time I would like to address that topic myself. We'll see how things work out over the next few days and if I can shake loose a few moments to write a post. I always enjoy reading your points of view.

  4. If I had any superpower, the one I would like the most is to fly. Wouldn't that be cool?

  5. That image looks like me today. Like a chicken running around with it's head cut off, as my mother would have said. ha

  6. I would love to be able to fly, Bellezza. I had a dream like that once and it was incredible.
